Ikebana style /visit to the botanical garden of Naples Italy /exibition

The fourth of May  2013

the group of learners and staff of Acli Campi flegrei association took part to a very important event, organized by the botanical garden of Naples. It was an exhibition of rare and spontaneous plants and endemic species. It was also organized an exhibition of ikebana art which learners found extremely stimulating for their inspiration and creativity. Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, dates back to over 500 years and is still practiced as a highly respected cultural art form in modern-day Japan. Unlike conventional flower arrangements, which emphasizes the colour and bloom of different flowers set in a vase, ikebana pays attention to the overall line and form of all plant material used and emphasizes minimalism and asymmetry. Ikebana also reveres the sacred relationship between man and nature, with the flower arrangement usually practiced in a silent and meditative state.
